Event List

Hey all,

Sorry for the long silence. I've been off at a writing workshop in Italy and am happy to report I return with a new dysfunctional family comedy in hand!

Still dealing with jet lag and business catch up - not to mention putting my house to rights post-subletter (shudder). I'll surface with more tales of adventure soon but meanwhile, here's something for your event calendar:

Please join John Mitchell & Penny Landau in their West Coast production of:

Now That She's Gone

written and performed by Ellen Snortland (With a name like hers, she’d better be good.)

Gloria Steinem says, “Ellen says I’m the ‘grandmother’ of this play, but I’m not crazy enough to think that it was my planting of a seed when in fact it is her enormous talent… She has a gift for being serious and funny, making you laugh and understand at the same time. The first time I saw it, I brought two friends who were visiting New York City from Kenya — a mother and a daughter — to see it, and they loved it too; it’s universal.”

Nora Dunn “Saturday Night Live” alum, says, “Ms. Snortland has written a show with great tenderness, surprise, and revelation. She delivers a poignant and completely original insight into the mother/daughter relationship that is deeply moving, and often profound.”

Now That She's Gone is a play that explores Ellen Snortland's often hilarious, irreverent and sometimes torturous relationship with her Norwegian-American mother. Now That She's Gone has been described as a Lily Tomlin / Garrison Keillor / Eve Ensler hybrid… passionate, poignant and funny in turns. A memoir piece with Eleanor Roosevelt, sex, drugs and lutefisk, the play and performance have received rave reviews and standing ovations in California, New York, and Washington, D.C.Now That She's Gone will be at the August 2008 New York International Fringe Festival.
